Two people were injured when the vehicle they were traveling in crashed into a light pole early Saturday morning in University City and the driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

The crash occurred at 12:20 a.m. on Nobel Drive at the southbound 805 entrance, said San Diego Police Officer Ben Newton.

The driver, a 23-year-old man, was traveling east on Nobel Drive with his 23-year-old female passenger, approaching the 805 when he struck a light pole.

The woman suffered a broken shoulder and a laceration to her right arm, Newton said. The driver suffer minor injuries.

Both patients were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI, Newton said.
