Authorities released the name Wednesday of a 30-year-old man who was fatally shot near a South Bay strip mall.
Deputies responding to report of gunfire found Roberto Sales mortally wounded at Donax Avenue and Florence Street in Imperial Beach shortly before 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to sheriff’s officials.
Sales died of multiple gunshot wounds at the scene, Lt. Karen Stubkjaer said.
A witness told reporters he was in his nearby apartment when he heard seven or eight gunshots and saw a man lying in the street. He grabbed medical supplies and ran outside but found Sales already dead from bullet wounds to the head.
Officials have not released a description of the assailant or assailants.
