A pedestrian suffered serious injuries Friday when a minivan struck him on a City Heights roadside, authorities reported.

The 36-year-old man was standing on or next to a driveway on a sidewalk in front of Panchita’s Bakery at 4414 University Avenue when the Honda Odyssey hit him as the driver pulled in to an adjacent parking lot shortly after 1:30 p.m., according to San Diego police.

Medics took the victim to a hospital for treatment of a broken pelvis and cuts to his face and upper body, Officer Tony Martinez said.

The crash smashed the bakery’s front window, but there were no other reported injuries.

It was unclear if the motorist would be cited over the accident.
