A brush fire sparked by a car crash scorched about five open acres near Hollywood Casino Jamul-San Diego Thursday afternoon before being brought under control.
The traffic accident downed a power pole and ignited the blaze in the 14400 block of Rancho Jamul Drive about 3 p.m., according to Cal Fire.
It took ground crews and personnel aboard firefighting aircraft about a half-hour to extinguish the flames, which caused no structural damage, said Jon Heggie, a fire captain with the state agency.
No injuries were reported.
