Eight people were stranded on a large rock at Torrey Pines State Beach on Friday after a 7.5-foot high tide prevented them for leaving.

San Diego Lifeguards responded just before 9 p.m., and were assisted by a San Diego Fire-Rescue Department helicopter.

Lifeguards waited with the group on the rock for several hours until the tide went down and then escorted them off.

No injuries were immediately reported.
