A hit-and-run accident at a rain-dampened Southcrest intersection left a pedestrian with potentially serious injuries Tuesday afternoon.
The crash at 35th Street and National Avenue occurred shortly after 3 p.m., according to San Diego police.
The involved vehicle, described as a red Nissan sedan, also struck a fire hydrant before the driver sped off, Officer Joshua Hodge said.
Medics took the victim to a hospital for treatment of potentially severe trauma, Hodge said.
