A struggle over a cell phone in the Paradise Hills neighborhood left a 19-year-old man with a knife wound and his attacker sought by police, authorities said Monday.

The victim was talking on the phone outside his girlfriend’s home on Altamont Court near Plumas Street when the suspect approached shortly after 11 p.m. Sunday, San Diego Police Officer Dino Delimitros said. The suspect attempted to snatch the phone from the victim and a struggle ensued.

During the fight over the cell phone, the suspect pulled a knife and sliced the victim’s wrist. Delimitros said the cut was deep but was not considered life-threatening.

The victim was able to hang on to his phone during the struggle, according to the officer.

A detailed description of the suspect was not immediately available.
