Shots were fired during a road rage dispute near Rancho San Diego early Thursday, but no one was injured.
The motorists got into an argument and the suspect opened fire on the victim’s pickup truck in the vicinity of Jamacha Road and Hilton Head Place about 2:20 a.m., according to San Diego Sheriff’s Sgt. Matt Cook. Bullet casings were found in a nearby parking lot.
A detailed suspect description was not immediately available. Cook said deputies took conflicting reports from witnesses who described the second vehicle either as a white SUV or a black sedan.
Four people associated with a white SUV were questioned at a apartment complex about two blocks away, but were released “pending further investigation,” according to the sergeant.
No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
Anyone with additional information on the case was asked to call Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
