An unidentified man was found dead Tuesday in the driver’s seat of a mangled car hundreds of feet down an embankment alongside a rural Poway road.
The discovery on the north side of Scripps Poway Parkway near Danielson Street was reported shortly before noon, sheriff’s Sgt. David Cheever said.
Traffic detectives investigated and determined that the Nissan 300ZX apparently had veered off the roadway while traveling to the west and vaulted over a dirt berm before plunging down the hillside.
It was unclear when the crash occurred.
The deceased motorist appeared to have been in his 20s or early 30s, Cheever said.
