A Feb. 24 trial date was set Tuesday for a man accused of stabbing his landlord after an argument in their Sherman Heights apartment last summer.
Brandon Gaubert, 32, is charged with premeditated attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. He pleaded not guilty to the charges at his Superior Court arraignment Tuesday afternoon.
Gaubert — being held on $500,000 bail — faces seven years to life in prison if convicted, said Deputy District Attorney David McNees.
The victim, Ernest Pierce, ran to a 20th Street market about noon last Aug. 17 after arguing with Gaubert about his behavior, the prosecutor said. Gaubert allegedly pulled a knife and stabbed the victim in the neck and chest, according to Officer Dan Lasher.
Police found the defendant near the market a short time later and arrested him.
