A disagreement at a Sherman Heights market escalated Monday into a stabbing that left the property owner seriously wounded and a tenant jailed, authorities reported.
The victim went to the store in the 300 block of 20th Street around midday to do some maintenance and got into an argument with renter Brandon Gaubert, 31, according to San Diego police.
The quarrel ended shortly before 1 p.m., when Gaubert allegedly pulled a knife and stabbed his landlord in the neck and chest, Officer Dan Lasher said.
Medics took the victim to a hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers found Gaubert near the market a short time later and arrested him on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
