A 50-year-old Oregon man who was subject of a felony warrant for rape was arrested at the San Ysidro port of entry, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials said Friday.
Francisco Macias-Trujillo pulled up about 3 a.m. Wednesday to the border crossing in a black 2012 Nissan Frontier with Oregon license plates.
Officers running a routine check of law enforcement databases discovered the man had an active warrant and took him into custody, CBP spokeswoman Jackie Wasiluk said.
“CBP officers perform the crucial job of inspecting every person that enters the United States,” San Diego Field Operations Director Pete Flores of the CBP said. “Their work impacts not just those in our local border community, but communities across the nation. Because of their diligence, this man will now face the charges against him.”
His identity was confirmed through his fingerprints and he was taken into custody in connection with the $1.75 million bail warrant charging him with seven counts of sexual abuse in the first degree, Wasiluk said. He later was booked into jail in San Diego.
