A woman attempting to run over her boyfriend in Santee on Saturday was subdued by two off-duty law-enforcement officers after one of the officers’ guns discharged.

San Diego Sheriff‘s Lt. John Maryon said an off-duty sheriff’s lieutenant and her husband, a sergeant with the National City Police Department, spotted the vehicle in the 10400 block of Cuyamaca Street and radioed for help.

The woman tried several times to run over her boyfriend, then attacked him with a baseball bat, Maryon said. At that point, the sergeant attempted to help the boyfriend, while the lieutenant identified herself and pointed her gun at the woman.

The woman grabbed the lieutenant’s gun, which went off, and the sergeant then subdued her with a Taser.

Jennifer Rebecca McKee, 35, was arrested on charges of  assault with a deadly weapon, spousal abuse and assault on a peace officer.

No one was seriously injured during this incident, Maryon said, adding that it will be investigated by detectives from the Sheriff’s Homicide Detail because a gun was fired.
