An apartment caught fire in East San Diego Saturday morning.

San Diego Fire-Rescue said flames broke out in the rear unit of an apartment complex located at 4228 El Cajon Blvd. at around 6 a.m.

First responders attacked the fire and knocked it down in less than 20 minutes.

Fire officials said five people lived in the apartment but no one was injured.

Total damage was estimated at $600,000.
