An electrical fire at a Kearny Mesa car dealership early Friday caused about $500,000 in damage.

Firefighters sent to Pacific Honda at 4720 Convoy Street around 1:20 a.m. spotted smoke and flames coming from the windows of its used car sales office building, San Diego Fire-Rescue Department Lee Swanson said.

The burning building was surrounded on three sides by vehicles, but about 35 firefighters confined the blaze to the office and one nearby SUV, Swanson said. The fire was knocked down in about 20 minutes.

Swanson said the fire caused about $250,000 in damage to the building, $200,000 in damage to its contents and $50,000 in damage to the SUV and surrounding exposures.
