The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department on Tuesday released the sketch of the man suspected of attempting to kidnap a girl Monday at a school in Solana Beach.
The man, who appeared to be in his 40s, approached the child at Skyline Elementary School on Lomas Santa Fe Drive shortly before 3:30 p.m. and told her to get into his vehicle, according to sheriff’s officials. She screamed and fought with the suspect.
“She did the right thing,” sheriff’s Capt. Theresa Adams-Hydar said.
The suspect also tried to use packing tape to wrap around the 7-year-old girl’s head to silenced her screams before driving off, she said.
Witnesses described the would-be abductor as a tanned, roughly 6-foot white man with light-brown hair. He was driving a silver-and-black late-model mid-size sport utility vehicle, possibly a Ford Flex, sheriff’s Sgt. Joe Montion said.
Anyone with information about the suspect or this incident should contact the Sheriff’s Department at (858) 565-5200 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
