A 19-year-old man was in custody Thursday accused of committing two robberies in San Ysidro just minutes apart, police said.

One of the robberies targeted a pedestrian in the 100 block of East San Ysidro Boulevard around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to San Diego Police Officer Robert Heims.

About 10 minutes earlier, the suspect in the pedestrian robbery went into a nearby 7-Eleven convenience store and put a knife on the counter, Heims said in a statement, adding he then walked to a cooler, took a beer and then came back for his knife before leaving without paying.

Police did not immediately disclose the loss in the pedestrian robbery.
