A 70-year-old convicted child molester was found guilty Thursday of possessing child pornography.
Norman Paul Felts, a U.S. citizen who at the time of his arrest lived in the Baja California city of Ensenada, has been in custody since being taken into custody more than 18 months ago.
In May 2013, Felts was caught entering the United States carrying a hard drive that contained images of minors engaged in sex acts, according to prosecutors. During his bench trial in federal court, he admitted to taking sexually explicit photographs of a boy who had worked on his boat in Mexico.
Felts has three prior sex-offense convictions dating back to 1972, including one for child molestation in 1977 and another, in 1999, for procurement of a person under age 16 for a lewd act.
He faces a maximum 20-year prison term, with sentencing scheduled for March 27.
