Theresa Nasser of San Diego died at Sharp Memorial Hospital on Saturday, four days after the accident behind the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in the 1600 block of East Madison Avenue in El Cajon.

Nasser was waiting in line for donated food shortly before 4:30 p.m. last Tuesday when a motorist leaving a nearby parking space lost control of her car, which crashed into the crowd and pinned Nasser against a concrete-block wall, Sgt. Greg Robertson said.

Along with Nasser, a 33-year-old woman was hospitalized for treatment of serious injuries. The driver, 42-year-old Ridhab Abed, was treated for minor trauma, as were her 62-year-old passenger and a 60-year-old woman attending the church event.

It was unclear if Abed might face charges over the wreck.

“The investigation into the cause of the (crash) is continuing, as police investigators are still examining evidence and speaking with witnesses,” Robertson said. “Results of the investigation will be made public at the conclusion of the investigation.”
