A courthouse deputy crashed his motorcycle Tuesday on state Route 94 in Chollas View while on his way to work, suffering severe injuries.

Michael Alcarion, 28, was riding to the west when his two-wheeler hit the back of a Nissan Titan near Euclid Avenue shortly after 7 a.m., according to sheriff’s officials and the California Highway Patrol.

Alcarion tumbled onto the roadway and was run over by a big rig, CHP public-affairs Officer Jake Sanchez said. Medics took him to Scripps Mercy Hospital for treatment of major trauma.

The wreck left two lanes blocked on the freeway for about an hour.

Alcarion is assigned to the downtown San Diego County courts complex, sheriff’s officials said.
