An inmate booked on drug charges escaped from Central Jail in downtown San Diego on Tuesday evening, authorities said.
Don Andrea Torrillo, 26, escaped just before 6 p.m. and was last seen wearing a black or dark blue sleeveless shirt with a star in the middle, khaki shorts and slippers, according to the San Diego Sheriff’s Department. How he escaped is still under investigation, but all other inmates at Central Jail are accounted for, authorities said.
Torrillo is described a white man, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 150 pounds with brown eyes and hair. He also has a tattoo on his left bicep shoulder.
He was arrested Sept. 5 after authorities, serving a search warrant, found drugs at his home in the 700 block of Singing Trails Drive in Santee. Torrilo was charged with possessing drugs and drug paraphernalia, possessing drugs for sale and being under the influence of drugs.
Torrillo has no violent history and is known to frequent the El Cajon, Santee and Rancho San Diego areas, authorities said.
Anyone with information on Torrillo’s whereabouts is urged to call 911 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477. There is a reward for his arrest.
