A Lakeside couple was behind bars Monday on suspicion of carrying out a weekend robbery during which the husband allegedly threatened employees at a Home Depot in Poway with a makeshift flame thrower.

Ignacio Lorenzo Brambila, 37, allegedly stole tools from the Home Depot in the 12100 Tech Center Drive by sneaking them out in a baby stroller, San Diego Sheriff‘s Sgt. Chad Boudreau said.

When store workers confronted him outside the business, Brambila allegedly grabbed an aerosol can, sprayed its flammable contents toward them and lit the liquid with a cigarette lighter. No injuries were reported.

The suspect then drove off in a car also occupied by his 34-year-old wife, Sarrah, and their 18-month-old child, Boudreau said.

Deputies pulled them over a short distance away. Inside the trunk of the vehicle, they found the stolen merchandise, the sergeant said.

The couple was arrested on suspicion of robbery, conspiracy, child cruelty and assault with the intent to commit a felony. Ignacio Brambila also was booked for allegedly being under the influence of a controlled substance.

The toddler and the couple’s twin 12-year-old boys were taken into protective custody.

The suspects were being held on bail of $100,000 each pending arraignment, scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
