Actress Drew Barrymore’s half sister, found dead in her car in National City last month, died of an accidental drug overdose, authorities said Tuesday.
Jessica Barrymore of Bonsall succumbed to acute intoxication from a combination of alcohol, methadone, methamphetamine, the painkiller tramadol and the anti-anxiety medication nordiazepam, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Her body was found in the 900 block of Hoover Avenue around daybreak July 29, two days before her 48th birthday.
The woman who made the discovery told reporters the dead woman was reclined in the car with a SoBe drink between her legs, surrounded by dozens of white pills. The vehicle had been blocking a driveway since about midnight, according to another neighbor.
Jessica and Drew Barrymore’s father, John Drew Barrymore Jr., had four children from multiple marriages. Jessica Barrymore’s mother, Nina Wayne, was a television actress in the 1960s.
