An effort was underway Thursday morning  to right three cars of a freight train that derailed in the Barrio Logan neighborhood, police said.

The derailment occurred around 8:10 p.m. Wednesday on the San Diego side of the Coronado Bridge, adjacent to the 1800 block of Harbor Drive, according to San Diego Police.

The derailment was not a HazMat issue, and no one was injured. However, it did force the closure of Cesar Chavez Parkway at Harbor Drive, police said.

Lena Kent of Burlington Northern Santa Fe told U-T San Diego that the train was en route to Clovis, New Mexico.

Crews were using a crane to place the cars back on the tracks, San Diego police Sgt. David Jennings said. He estimated the effort would be complete around 8 or 9 a.m. Cesar Chavez Parkway is expected to be reopened around noon, police said.
