A cooling and drying trend will occur across the region this weekend and early next week. This will be accompanied by a building marine layer with clouds returning closer to the coastal areas each night and morning, the National Weather Service said Saturday.
An area of high pressure may strengthen by the end of next week, nudging temperatures back above average, forecasters said.
Expect temperatures to cool a few degrees each day with breezy westerly winds across the mountains and deserts each afternoon and evening. Temperatures will be near average, with highs dipping below average by Monday and Tuesday, the NWS said.
High temperatures may stay below 90 degrees in areas west of the mountains. Low temperatures will also begin to cool off through early next week.
High temperatures along the coast next week will be in the mid to upper 70s, with overnight lows in the mid to upper 60s. Inland valleys can expect highs in the mid 80s next week, with overnight lows in the low to mid 60s. Mountains highs will be in the upper 70s to low 80s, with lows in the mid to low 60s. Desert highs will be in the upper 90s to low 100s, with lows in the mid to upper 70s throughout the week, according to the NWS.
