Eight men and a woman have been arrested in Escondido for a string of North County and San Diego burglaries and auto thefts, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department announced Saturday.

Sheriff’s deputies and Escondido police officers arrested a man with three felony warrants while conducting a probation compliance check on Thursday about 3:40 p.m. at an apartment complex at 485 N. Citrus Ave. in Escondido, Sheriff’s Sgt. Mike Forbes said.

That arrest led to the arrests of seven men in the apartment for possession of burglary tools, possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia, and possession of stolen property including checks, credit cards and identification cards, Forbes said. The men were also suspected of being under the influence of controlled substances.

Forbes said four of the men were also arrested on felony warrants by the US Marshal’s Office. A woman in an associated apartment unit was arrested on a felony warrant.

Sheriff’s deputies recovered stolen property at the scene belonging to at least six victims residing in Escondido, San Marcos and Vista. Forbes said there are other potential victims in the city of San Diego.
