A woman’s body was found near a skateboard park on the side of Nimitz Boulevard early Saturday in Ocean Beach after an apparent hit-and-run crash.
The woman, a white female in her 20s, was believed to have been skateboarding on Nimitz when she was hit by an unknown vehicle, Officer Frank Cali said.
A driver passing by after sunrise spotted the woman’s body and called police at 6:07 a.m., Cali said. Officers responded to the site and the woman was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene, Cali said.
The fatality was on a section of Nimitz where vehicles at near-freeway speeds are not uncommon, near the on-ramp to Interstate 8. A skateboard park is nearby at Robb Field.
