A man stabbed his sister and father during an Father’s Day weekend argument in their home, police said, and he was arrested.

The victims are being treated and were expected to survive. The attack was reported at 9:57 a.m. on the 6500 block of Eider Street, just west of Klauber Avenue and south of the Route 94 Martin Luther King Jr. Freeway, said San Diego Police officer Frank Cali.

“During an argument, a man punched his sister in the eye and grabbed an 8-inch steak knife, and stabbed her in the abdomen and the right side of her chest,” Cali said. “Then he stabbed his father, 71, in the abdomen.”

Cali identified the suspect only as a black male, 38. He was arrested by police in the home he shared with his sister and father.

Cali said both victims were taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
