A probation compliance sweep by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department in Vista resulted in the arrest of eight convicts, the sheriff’s department announced Sunday.
Sheriff’s deputies and officers from assisting agencies contacted 28 convicts on Saturday to determine if they were violating any conditions of their release, Lt. David Gilmore said.
The operation, which was conducted between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday, was part of the Regional Realignment Response Group. Its goal is to track known offenders and their associates in order to better understand crime and devote resources to safety issues in neighborhoods, Gilmore said.
The eight convicts arrested were Juan Carlos Morales, 19; Timothy Pearson, 48; Johnny Poling, 38; James Pina, 52; Rogelio Soto, 35; Alejandro Juarez, 28; Sergio Escalante, 31; and James Bubany, 39.
Escondido police, Oceanside police, Carlsbad police and the San Diego County Probation Department assisted in the sweep, Gilmore said.
