A man accused of shooting his father in the back on Los Coyotes Indian Reservation near Warner Springs pleaded not guilty Thursday to an attempted murder charge.
Phillip Lonewolf Campbell, 35, was ordered held on $1 million bail.
Campbell opened fire on his father about 4:30 p.m. Sunday, then ran off into hilly terrain in the area of Hot Springs Mountain, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
Investigators have not disclosed a motive.
On Monday, Campbell was detained by tribal police at a home on the reservation in the 32000 block of Camino Moro until deputies took custody of him.
