Firefighters stopped the spread of a fire that charred around 15 acres of brush Saturday in a canyon area near Santee Lakes.

The non-injury fire, which was reported shortly after 8 a.m., was burning in an unpopulated area north of the lakes, according to Heartland Fire & Rescue and sheriff’s officials.

As of late morning, no evacuations had been ordered and no roads had been closed in the area, sheriff’s officials said.

No structures were threatened, and crews expected to have the blaze fully contained by 4 p.m., according to Cal Fire.
