Hundreds have protested the recommended placement of a felon, labeled a sexually violent predator, in Borrego Springs. Authorities will host a meeting Friday in downtown San Diego to hear from the public on the case.

The California Department of State Hospitals has recommended that Terry Stone, convicted of molesting children between the ages of 6 and 11, for placement at 2632 Frying Pan Road. The Borrego Springs Office of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department has local jurisdiction.

The forum will help the court decide Stone’s fate. It is set for 9 a.m. Friday in Department 53 of the San Diego Superior Court, 220 West Broadway, San Diego.

According to the Sheriffs department, the closest school to Stone’s possible residence is Borrego Springs Elementary School, about two miles away.

The Sheriff offers web alerts when sex offenders are recommended for placement.
