State hospital officials Wednesday proposed placing sexually violent predator Terry Stone in a single-story home in Borrego Springs, in the far reaches of northeast San Diego County.
Stone, 63, a diagnosed pedophile, was convicted on three separate occasions for committing lewd and lascivious acts against five different victims between the ages of 6 and 11.
In 1994, he was sentenced to 19 years in prison for his crimes.
Prior to his release date, the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office filed a petition to commit Stone as a sexually violent predator. As a result, instead of being released, Stone was committed to a state hospital in 2003.
Last year, Stone sought his conditional release from the hospital, and in December, a judge ruled that Stone could be safely released back into the community for continued treatment and supervision.
A court hearing is scheduled May 2 for the public to comment on Stone’s proposed placement in Borrego Springs.
Public comment will be accepted until April 11 and also at the hearing next month.
