Families visiting and playing at Lake Murray Park in San Carlos will once again have access to temporary restrooms, courtesy of County Supervisor Joel Anderson and San Diego City Councilmember Raul Campillo.
District 7 representative Anthony Hackett delivered the news to the Navajo Planning Group during a June 11 meeting.
The city of San Diego removed the portable restrooms from the park last year, leaving the popular park and its parkgoers without a restroom.
With the help of San Diego County Supervisor Anderson, City Councilmember Campillo says they are bringing much-needed relief to the community.
To make that happen, Supervisor Anderson allocated $4,500 to Councilmember Campillo to pay for the restrooms.
Councilmember Campillo’s Office tells Times of San Diego that the restrooms will return to the park as soon as the grant is received in four to five weeks. The grant, says a Campillo spokesperson, should fund the restrooms for more than a year, giving Campillo a chance to look for permanent funding.
Supervisor Anderson’s office told Times of San Diego that Anderson is a strong supporter of parks and recreation, and knows the importance of places like Lake Murray Community Park to residents in San Diego and across the county.
