The San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce recognized the contributions made by small businesses to the local economy with awards to five during a celebration Thursday night at Snapdragon Stadium.

The chamber recognized businesses with 50 or fewer employees in the categories of Best Sustainable; Community Minded; Customers First; Outstanding Minority, Woman, or DBE-Owned Business; and Exceptional Veteran-Owned Small Business.

“The majority of businesses in San Diego are small businesses, they are the backbone of our region’s economy, fueling innovation, creating jobs, and bringing character to our communities,” said Jerry Sanders, chamber president and CEO. “Tonight, we celebrate their determination, innovation, industriousness, and generosity, which embody the chamber’s mission to make the San Diego region the best place to live and work.”
