The KFMB Stations announced that Brett Winterble, weekday afternoon talk-show host from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on 760 KFMB, has extended his contract with the AM station.
Winterble told the Times of San Diego his extension is for three years through July 2021.
“I am thrilled to continue to work with America’s finest news-talk station in America’s finest city,” said Winterble. “The next several years will see an amazing amount of change in our community, our country and world, and I am excited to leverage all of our assets to bring our audience the most entertaining and informative content available anywhere.”
“We are excited to continue our relationship with Brett,” said Dave Sniff, director of programming at the KFMB Stations. “His ability to digest the daily news cycle and make it relevant for the San Diego community is unmatched and truly impressive. Brett will play a key role in creating unique content, not only for KFMB-AM, but also for our various digital platforms.”
Winterble joined KFMB as afternoon host in September 2015. Previously, he was afternoon host and sportscaster on KFWB 980-AM in Los Angeles. During the past 20 years, he also has worked as a producer on shows hosted by Roger Hedgecock, Michael Reagan and Rush Limbaugh.
“Nobody has defined radio like Rush has,” said Winterble, who worked with Limbaugh in New York for six years. “He is a model of professionalism. His core focus is to entertain and keep the audience. And he is constantly show-prepping. His work ethic is unbelievable.”
As a producer with Michael Reagan, Winterble said Reagan “understands the intersection between Hollywood and Washington. And, why wouldn’t he. His parents included a U.S. president and Oscar winner. Michael has a marvelous, practical down-to-earth insight.”
For the past year, every weekday morning, Winterble has hosted a two-hour show on Newsmax TV. The set is simple. He looks straight into the camera with a scenic photo of San Diego behind him and receives phone calls and banters with viewers in a discussion of current events, such as the recent 4.1 economic growth number. Winterble said the Newsmax TV audience is roughly 50 million households.
Sergio Hernandez Joins NBC 7 San Diego as Press Manager
After 16 years of working in promotions at several San Diego radio stations, Sergio Hernandez has joined KNSD-TV/NBC 7 San Diego and Telemundo 20 as community and press manager.
Hernandez was previously at Broadcast Company of the Americas, which operates three radio stations in San Diego, including XPRS-AM 1090 The Mighty 1090, XPRS-FM 105.7 MAX-FM and XEPE-AM ESPN 1700. He also has been a promotions director at 103.7 The Planet, My 94.1, Jamin Z90 and Magic 92.5.
“My goal is to bring the radio feel of promotions to TV, engage our viewers and make NBC 7 and Telemundo 20 a true part of the community in the county,” Hernandez said.
Hernandez has been married for 24 years to Sherry Knight, nighttime radio DJ on KyXy 6.5-FM and weekend host on KXSN Sunny 98.1-FM. They are raising two daughters.
Greenhaus Advertising Adds Visit Santa Barbara
Greenhaus said it was selected through a competitive RFP process. Services will include refreshing the destination brand with new creative elements, media planning and a marketing campaign that includes print, broadcast and digital. Advertising budget for the first year is expected to range between $1 million and $1.5 million, said a Greenhaus spokesperson.
According to Craig Fuller, Greenhaus president, the agency will focus on the diversity of activities available within the greater Santa Barbara region. “It’s hard to find a better place than Santa Barbara with its unique mix of history, architecture, beautiful outdoor settings, gardens, culinary and wine experiences, craft-driven shopping and dining such as the Funk Zone and, of course, the beach,” said Fuller. “The destination represents an amazing breadth of experiences within a relatively small footprint and we will reveal that story through authentic sharing opportunities.”
The Visit Santa Barbara win is the latest in a string of tourism-related client additions for Greenhaus. The agency has recently produced campaigns for Visit Anaheim, Visit Oceanside, Visit Newport Beach, Mountainside at Northstar in Lake Tahoe, Orange County Visitors Association and Kukui’ula in Kauai.
