Cal Jet Elite Airways will begin nonstop jet service between Carlsbad and Las Vegas on Thursday with two daily flights.

The airline is flying 62-seat Bombardier CRJ-700 jets. The fare is $69 with the carry-on and first checked bag free.

“We’re delighted that North County residents can now say goodbye to the I-5 when flying to Las Vegas,” said George Wozniak, president of the airline. “Dealing with traffic to get to the airport downtown is a gamble our passengers don’t have to take anymore.”

He said the newly renovated McClellan-Palomar Airport offers faster check-in, shorter lines, and $5 daily parking.

The airline plans to announce expansion into additional markets in the future.
