For the second year in a row, the influential Cruise Critic website has named the Port of San Diego one of the top five cruise destinations in the United States and Canada.

The top five destinations in 2017 according to Cruise Critic reviewers were:

  1. Quebec City
  2. San Francisco
  3. Bar Harbor, ME
  4. San Diegoa
  5. Key West, FL

The ranking is based on Cruise Critic member reviews for cruises taken in the past year.

“We are honored to be voted one of the top five cruise destinations by Cruise Critic’s online community for the second year in a row,” said Robert “Dukie” Valderrama, chairman of the Board of Port Commissioners. “In recent years we have installed $31 million in improvements to the North Embarcadero, providing our cruise passengers with a beautiful welcome to the Port of San Diego. That, along with all the wonderful attractions San Diego offers, will help attract new cruise business to our port.”

San Diego’s two cruise ship terminals, B Street Pier and Broadway Pier, are located on the downtown street grid, offering a seamless transition from the cruise ship to the city, where there are museums, epicurean delights and thriving neighborhoods such as Little Italy and the Ballpark District.

The Port of San Diego’s annual cruise season kicks off on Sept. 15.  Currently there are 83 cruise calls scheduled.
