On the eve of the California primary, a study ranked the Golden State’s economy third among all American states.
Washington, DC-based WalletHub said only Utah and Washington State have stronger state economies than California.
Texas, which has been trying to lure companies from California, came in a distant ninth.
California ranked second in innovation, fourth in economic activity and 12th in economic health. Texas was worse in every category except economic activity, in which it ranked third.
“California has blossomed into the seventh largest economy in the world, boasting a GDP of $2.3 trillion, which was comparable to Brazil’s $2.2 trillion, in 2014,” WalletHub said.
