Branding agency Oster and Associates of San Diego has added Mountain High sky resort to its client roster. Oster will assist the Wrightwood, CA, resort with a public relations campaign for the upcoming winter season. Mountain High, with three separate mountain locations — West Resort, East Resort and North Resort — features a variety of lifts and trails along with a terrain park, winter sports school and tubing area.

In addition, Oster recently hired two new employees. Laurissa Lane is a recent graduate from San Diego State University with a degree in journalism and marketing. Yasmine Grignard, a native of Belgium, interned at Oster as part of her graduate program in public relations at IHECS Academy in Belgium.

NBC 7 Awarding $100K to Local Nonprofits

In partnership with the NBC Universal Foundation, KNSD-TV/NBC 7 San Diego has announced three San Diego-area nonprofit organizations will receive $100,000 as part of its fourth annual 21st Century Solutions competitive grant challenge program.

The awards include: $50,000 to Elementary Institute of Science for ocean and earth expedition field trips by underserved students; $25,000 to the Friends of the Water Conservation Garden for its Ms. Smarty Plants Water Wise School education program for K-12 students; and $25,000 to the San Diego Air & Space Museum for transportation for students interested in science, technology, engineering, math and innovation.

NBC’s annual grant program invites submissions in June from local non-profit organizations embracing innovation in the areas of civic engagement, education, environment, jobs and economic empowerment, media arts and technology.

Morning Drive Host Matt Stone Leaves 91X

Morning drive host Matt Stone has left 91X to relocate to the East Coast to live near family. Stone said he has lived away from family for the past 10 years.

Stone joined 91X as assistant program director and nighttime DJ in November 2014, and began his morning shift in January 2015. He relocated to San Diego from Hawaii in June 2014 to work as program director at KPRI-FM. In Hawaii, Stone was operations manager for the Hawaii-based Resonate Hawaii LLC radio group of Kona. Prior to Hawaii, Stone was heard locally on CBS station KSCF-FM Sophie 103.7-FM.

Tommy Hough will host the morning show on an interim basis, the station said. XTRA-FM 91X is operated by Local Media San Diego.

J. Walcher Communications Promotes Two Staffers

J. Walcher Communications, a San Diego PR firm, has promoted Jenna Brossman to senior account executive and Ashley Weaver to assistant account executive.

Brossmont joined JWC in 2013. Her clients include nonprofits, real estate developers, shopping centers, tech companies and national associations.

Weaver rejoined the firm in March 2015 as an account coordinator after previously working as an intern in 2013. After her internship, Jean Walcher, JWC president, hired Weaver as an assistant. Later, Weaver left to join KCD PR and then rejoined Walcher earlier this year.
