A walk-up cafe and beer garden will open in the recently completed waterfront pavilion north of the country administration building on the embarcadero.

The Port of San Diego is leasing the signature space to Carnitas’ Snack Shack, which has two San Diego-area restaurants. Carnitas’ original North Park location opened in 2011 and a second restaurant opened in the Del Mar area last year.

The new Carnitas’ on San Diego Bay will feature a craft beer garden. The “pork-centric” menu will include as many locally sourced ingredients as possible.

The pavilion is part of the first phase of the port’s North Embarcadero Visionary Plan. It includes multiple, angled glass panels of varying colors.
