A widely followed local economic index increased 1.3 percent in February, and for the second month in a row all components rose.
The Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate said Tuesday the gain in its index of leading economic indicators for San Diego County was the ninth in a row.
Initial claims for unemployment insurance, help-wanted advertising, and building permits were strongly positive, while consumer confidence, local stock prices, and the outlook for the national economy had more modest gains.
“The outlook remains for strong growth in the local economy at least through the end of the year,” said Alan Gin, the professor at the University of San Diego who directs the project.
