A filmed version of “Springsteen on Broadway” begins streaming on Netflix Sunday, a day after the end of the solo acoustic performance’s 15-month run at the Walter Kerr Theatre in New York City.

“Springsteen on Broadway” is based on his autobiography “Born to Run.” It is billed by Netflix as “a unique evening with Bruce, his guitar, a piano, and his very personal stories.” It also features a special appearance by Springsteen’s wife Patti Scialfa, a singer and guitarist with the E Street Band.

Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos called “Springsteen on Broadway” a “groundbreaking experience” that “defies the boundaries of theater, concerts and film and will give our global audience an intimate look at one of the biggest cultural icons of our time.”

Springsteen’s manager, Jon Landau, who is among the film’s producers, said “the purpose of the film is to bring this incredibly intimate show to Bruce’s entire audience intact and complete.”
