Ringling Bros. And Barnum & Bailey may be closing, but there’s another circus in town.

Circus Vargas is back in San Diego County with its retro-futuristic production, Steam Cirque.

Audience members can expect to see daredevil acts, acrobats and more in a science-fiction fantasy atmosphere. The family-friendly event also includes a pre-show where guests can meet performers.

The circus runs at the Del Mar Fairgrounds through Jan. 30. Tickets start at $27.

Here are some other events happening this weekend:

Lunar New Year Festival

Celebrate the Year of the Rooster at the annual Lunar New Year Festival at Qualcomm Stadium. The event features live entertainment, including the popular dragon dance, Chinese and Vietnamese food, carnival rides and family-friendly activities. The festival is $6 for adults and $4 for children. Service members in uniform and those born during a Rooster Year will be given free admission. The event runs from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Wellness Week

Encinitas is hosting its annual Wellness Week. The event, which runs from Saturday through Jan. 27, features free exams, health classes, workshops and discounts for health services. The week kicks off with a festival at the Encinitas Library featuring dozens of health exhibitors offering information and services on how to live a healthy life. The Saturday festival runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

San Diego Restaurant Week

Enjoy the best of San Diego County’s food scene with Restaurant Week, which wraps up this weekend. The biannual event kicks off on Sunday and features restaurants throughout the region. Each restaurant will offer either a two-course lunch special or a three-course dinner for $20 to $50. A number of participating restaurants will also offer a Girl Scout-themed dessert to celebrate the organization’s 100th anniversary of Girl Scout Cookies.

Dine Out Escondido

Support the San Diego Food Bank by dining out in Escondido. Dine Out Escondido, which runs from Sunday through Saturday, Jan. 28, features more than 30 North County restaurants offering dishes with proceeds benefitting the nonprofit organization. Participating restaurants include French eatery Bellamy’s, The Grand Tea Room and Vintana Wine + Dine.

Monster Jam

Interested an action-packed weekend? Head down to Petco Park for Monster Jam. The motorsports event brings 10,000-pound trucks to the spotlight. Event-goers can expect to see speed, flips and demolition. The event takes place at 7 p.m. Saturday. Tickets start at $15.
