While preparing for its October season, the San Diego Symphony (SDS) has announced that its 2016 Bayside Summer Night performances set an all-time record in ticket revenue.

Out of the Symphony’s top-ten sellers of all time, six of those performances took place this summer with Diana Ross, Chris Botti, 1812 Tchaikovsky, Spectacular and Seth MacFarlane, said an SDS official Carrie Jones. This summer’s ticket revenue was 19 percent higher than all of its previous records.

Now the symphony is preparing for the highly anticipated Downtown 2016-17 season, said Jones. See the following October concert schedule:

Oct. 8: Michael Feinstein &  Cheyenne Jackson in Concert

The Orchestra will be joined by two interpreters of the Great American Songbook in a concert to launch the 2016-17 Downtown season.

Oct. 14 – 16: Opening Weekend with Gil Shaham

The grammy award-winning Gil Shaham will perform as a violinist, with Felix Mendelssohn’s concerto.

Oct. 23: Peter and The Wolf (2 p.m.)

Peter and the Wolf is a family-friendly concert that tells an enchanting story with musical narration, as conducted by Serge Prokofiev.

Oct. 23: The Phantom of the Opera (7:30 p.m.)

This classic 1925 classic is perfect for getting in the spirit of Halloween with thrilling musical scores.

Oct. 29: Danny Elfman’s Music From the Films of Tim Burton

The scores of Tim Burton’s films will come to life with musical compositions by the orchestra, complemented with creative visuals.

Oct. 30: Día de los Muertos

This concert will feature Mariachi Champaña Nevin with dancers, singer Aida Cuevas, aka The Queen of Ranchera Music, and other special highlights, to honor deceased family members for the Day of the Dead.
