The fair is closed on Monday and Tuesday but resumes on Wednesday.The San Diego County Fair is closed Monday and Tuesday, but it’s a good time to look into discounts on admission.

Wednesday, June 10, is the last day to get in on a $4 Fair Day. Tickets are available only at Albertsons and Vons stores with a minimum $10 purchase.

Military members, teachers, laid-off workers and children are among groups that can get free admission and discount rates.

Laid-off Workers

People who have been unemployed in the past 12 months and one guest can attend the fair free. Offer is good only Wednesday, June 17.

This offer also is available for “Golden State Advantage” card holders. Present an unemployment check stub (indicating a date between July 2014–June 2015) or your EDD debit card, with a photo ID, or your Golden State Advantage card, at the will-call window next to the O’Brien Gate.

Military Discounts

Military discounts are not available at the Fair admission gate, and are subject to availability at the base ticket offices.

Unlimited Fair Admission: Enjoy all 25 days of the fair for one price. Photo ID is required for ages 6 and older (age 5 and younger free every day).

Single-Day Child Admission: Ages 6-12. Kids 12 and younger are free Tuesdays.

Single-Day Senior Admission: Ages 62 and older

Value Pack: One parking voucher, four one-time-use admissions, four “buy-one-medium-soft-drink, get-one-free” coupons, 20 ride coupons, one Passport to Savings coupon book voucher.

Military Pack: One parking voucher, two one-time-use admissions, two “buy-one-medium-soft-drink, get-one-free” coupons. The Military Pack is perfect for patrons who want to customize their Fair package with a Pay-One-Price ride wristband.

Military discount tickets are available for purchase on base only to the following customers with appropriate Military ID: active duty, dependents, reservists, retirees and DoD employees.

Teacher Appreciation Days

Mission Federal Credit Union is offering all educators two free admissions to the fair on two Fridays, June 19 and 26.

All employees of public or private schools, K-12, colleges and universities are eligible, no matter where the schools are located. Just show your employee ID to receive two free tickets. These tickets will not be available at the fairgrounds.

Kids Days

Tuesdays, June 23 and 30: Children 12 and younger are admitted free. (Admission for ages 6-12 other days is $8.)

The theme for the fair is “A Fair to Remember, A Celebration of World’s Fairs and Balboa Park,” and commemorates the centennial anniversary of the 1915 Panama – California Exposition held in Balboa Park.

Kids Read and Get in Free

Students 12 and younger who read 10 books can complete the Reading Certificate and receive free admission to the fair.

Additional Discounts

  • Discount adult admission tickets (save $2 off the regular $15 adult admission price) will be available at Albertsons and Vons stores, through July 5. Albertsons and Vons also will have regular-price senior ($8; 62 and older) and children’s ($8, ages 6-12) tickets.
  • Best Pass Ever $25 buys one person admission to all 25 days of the fair; regularly $15 each day (adult admission). The pass is sale now at the Fairgrounds or online through July 4 (one day before the Fair ends).
  • Passport to Savings — This $5 booklet has more than $1,000 in promotional savings at the fair and around San Diego County, ranging from a free ticket to return to the Fair (a $15 value) to discounts on Fair food, rides, games and products.
  • San Diego County Ford dealers are selling four adult admission tickets for $36. Tickets are valid weekdays only.
  • San Diego County Toyota dealers have 2-for-1 adult admission coupons. Tickets valid weekdays only.
  • Metro PCS stores offer $5 savings on a fair-admission-and-reserved-seat package for the following concerts: Los Tigres del Norte, June 14; Groupo Intocable, June 21; Espinoza Paz, June 28; and Calibre 50 with Banda Carnaval, July 5. Get your coupon at any Metro PCS store and redeem it at the Fair Box Office.
  • Group Discounts: Group Sales is offering ten ticket options this year. Tickets must be purchased in advance, online, but do not all have to be used on the same day. Click on the order form link for all ticket details, including specific availability dates depending on what date you place your order, and minimum purchase requirements.
  • Survey: Fill out a survey at the kiosks at the O’Brien and Arena gates and get a $4 return ticket.
  • Ride the train, take the bus, save money Ride the COASTER train or take a BREEZE bus to the Fair. During the fair, shuttles transport bus and train passengers from the Solana Beach train station to the Fair’s West Gate (you must present a train or bus ticket to board the shuttle). You can buy the Fair Tripper, a fair admission-and-public-transportation-fare package; or present a same-day transit ticket or monthly pass at the West Gate window for an admission discount on adult, senior or child admission.

    Savings on Parking

  • Free parking at our off-site lots: Park free every day at Horsepark. Free shuttle buses run from 9 a.m. until midnight (1 a.m. Friday and Saturday), and drop you off in front of the O’Brien Gate. On Saturdays, Sundays and Friday, July 3, park free at MiraCosta College San Elijo campus and Torrey Pines High School.
  • Biking to the Fair: Bike racks are set up at the O’Brien Gate and the West Gate. Use your own bike lock at either location, at no charge.
