Get your fancy duds together, the Jewish Family Service of San Diego’s 2015 Heart & Soul Gala—Embracing Community will take place at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 28, at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla.

This year’s theme, Embracing Community, celebrates the extraordinary accomplishments of the 2015 Mitzvah Award honorees, Evelyn and Ernest Rady, Ron S. Zollman, and the agency’s special partnership with Susan G. Komen, San Diego. All proceeds will benefit JFS’s work to empower individuals and families to move toward self-sufficiency, support aging with dignity, and foster community connection and Engagement across San Diego.

The evening’s program will focus on the Mitzvah Award Honorees’ significant contributions to the agency and community. Evelyn Rady dedicated 17 years of her career to JFS, working directly with clients as a social worker, clinical manager, and supervisor. Inspired by Evelyn’s dedication, Ernest Rady has become one of JFS’s greatest advocates in the community, investing generously in the agency’s mission and sharing his leadership expertise with the JFS staff. In his 12 years of service to JFS, Ron S. Zollman served as the founding Board Chair of Charitable Auto Resources, Inc. (CARS), and led JFS as President of the Board of Directors from 2007 to 2009. Through a long-standing, collaborative partnership with Susan G. Komen, San Diego, Jewish Family Service is able to partner with diverse, medically underserved women to navigate the healthcare system, ensure their financial and emotional stability, and focus on their treatment.

“Our honorees’ community leadership, generous investments in JFS’s mission, and advocacy on behalf of Jewish Family Service and its clients inspire us all,” said Gala Co-Chairs Heather Keith and Karin & Tony Toranto.

The gala program will feature a hosted cocktail reception, live and silent auction, and exclusive performances by Michael Tiernan and University of Southern California Troy Tones A Cappella.

In 2014, the Heart & Soul Gala raised more than $900,000 to help JFS partner with clients to achieve financial, physical, emotional, social, and spiritual health. With the generous support of the 2015 Gala underwriters, auction donors, and attendees, JFS will continue to say “We’re With You” to every person who turns to the agency in search of a better life.
