With Valentine’s Day less than three weeks away, it may be helpful to know that three restaurants in San Diego made the sixth annual list of the nation’s 100 most romantic.
The three are the Addison at The Grand Del Mar, Chez Loma in Coronado, and Salvatore’s Cucina Italiana in downtown San Diego.
Two other restaurants on the list are within driving distance: the Studio at Montage in Laguna Beach and Europa in Palm Springs.
The Diners’ Choice Awards list was compiled by OpenTable, the national restaurant reservations company, based on more than 5 million reviews by diners.
California has the greatest number on the list with 15 restaurants, followed by New York, Texas, and Virginia with eight each, and Arizona, Florida, and North Carolina with seven apiece, and Nevada with five.
Cheese continues to please American diners, with fondue restaurants making a solid showing nationally (but not in San Diego) for the sixth consecutive year. American, French, and Italian cuisines are also popular.
“If you’re seeking to fan the flames of romance, book a table at any of this year’s winning restaurants,” said Caroline Potter, OpenTable’s chief dining officer. “From amazing ambience and deft service to sumptuous culinary creations and delightful confections, these honorees are experts at creating intimate meals to remember.”
