A motorist had to be rescued from her burning car Tuesday after it crashed into a light pole in Hillcrest and burst into flames.
The accident at Washington Street and Cleveland Avenue occurred shortly after 6 p.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
At least one witness pulled the driver out of the burning blue hybrid vehicle before the arrival of emergency crews.
As firefighters extinguished the blaze, which fully engulfed the car, medics took the motorist to Scripps Mercy Hospital for treatment of injuries of undetermined severity, Lee Swanson of the SDFRD said.
