Summer takes off with “May Madness” at the San Diego Air & Space Museum in May.
This high-flying celebration runs May 1–31 and features fun, family-friendly deals, including the popular “Kids Free in May” offer, where up to two children (12 and under) get in free with one paid adult.
Visitors can also enjoy Buy-One-Get-One simulator rides, discounts at the Museum Gift Shop, Flight Path Grill, and 10% off annual memberships. Members and Explorer Pass holders receive 20% off in the Gift Shop and 10% off in the Grill throughout the month.
New this year: the Military Family Fun Card, launching May 6, allows military families who pay for one admission to return free all year through March 1, 2026—thanks to the generosity of The Copley Foundation.
Also new: guests who donate $20 are entered into the “Golden Ticket” raffle for a VIP Behind-the-Scenes Tour for Ten, offering a unique, expert-led Museum experience.
A highlight of “May Madness” is the always-popular “Space Day” on Saturday, May 17, featuring space-themed demonstrations, hands-on activities with local and national space experts, and the crowd-favorite “Stomp Rockets.” During “Space Day,” up to two kids 12 and under are admitted FREE with one paid adult.

Admission to the Museum in Balboa Park also includes free entry to the Museum’s Gillespie Field Annex in El Cajon.

The San Diego Air & Space Museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (last admission at 4:30 p.m.). Closed Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
